beautiful

i love this picture... it speaks to me... what does it say to you?

ok so last night i was much to tired to comment on my own blog pic but i still just had to put it up.

this is my take: a woman in the water who seems to be surviving the aftermath of a storm. from the bottom of her face you can tell she is calm and from her body posturing, you can tell that she is poised. this means to me she is ready and prepared. there are streams of light shining through dark clouds but there is also patches of blue sky behind them. I think the most powerful part of this picture is the umbrella. it is a striking contrast to the serenity of the overall feeling.

It reminds me that there can be unexpected beauty in the midst of darkness, and also, it reminds me of my daughter (and her poem, Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe...)
xo
It really is a gorgeous picture.

The umbrella looks like her "shield of faith". It is battered but not broken.

I love that this woman seems so centered. Passing storm, tattered parasol, enormous water--and her hair is lovely, her clothes are settled, and she is at peace. Yet also poised--which tells me that she understands how to pursue peace (it is not just natural within herself), the stance suggesting that she has practiced finding her sanity, her center, in the midst of many storms.

it speaks to me of a women who is not unaware of what lies behind her but who's spirit of adventure drives her into her tomorrow. she is cautious but not fearful, protected but not sheltered and courageous but respects the unknown. I wonder if this is what God had in mind when he fashioned each of us...beautiful & fragile, but strong enough to recognize our need for HIM!

OK, so I think she's thinking "Dang, I just ran like 12 miles and my rad yellow umbrella is completely screwed. My feet hurt really bad, do I ditched my shoes and I'm tip-toeing through this lovely cool water. I'm so hungry that I'll gladly sell some hair or the clothes off my back for a piece of pizza. Also, I'm trying to hide my face because I'm sweating salt and it's not cute."
